History

Reaxis Inc. has a rich history dating back to 1935 with the incorporation of Pitt Metals. The company manufactured inorganic tin compounds in the 1970s. In 1993 the company became Goldschmidt Industrial Chemical Corporation with the sale of Pitt Metals to Th. Goldschmidt, AG, Essen, Germany which was subsequently acquired by Evonik. As of December 2006, Reaxis became an independent company, fully owned by management.

Company

Headquartered in McDonald, PA near Pittsburgh, Reaxis manufactures an extensive range of catalysts that are used in the processing and production of a number of key products including liquid polymers, plastics, coatings, elastomers, adhesives, sealants and oleochemicals. Reaxis also manufactures a line of chemicals used in a variety of surface finishing applications.

Reaxis has a broad and extensive selection of metal-and acid-based catalyst chemistries. Our expertise has enabled us to create products that work effectively in many unique, essential applications. Supported by our manufacturing expertise, R&D capabilities, global supply chain, technical service, and attention to customer service, Reaxis provides superior quality and value-added products to their customers.

Reaxis has renamed our well-known TEGOKAT® product line REAXIS™.

Quality has long been our focus and ISO 9002 registration was received in 1997.

Currently Reaxis is ISO 9001-2000 and RC 14001-2005 certified and has been awarded several quality and environmental awards, most notably in 2003 the prestigious Governor’s (of Pennsylvania) Award for Environmental Excellence.

Marketing

The Reaxis product portfolio is marketed and sold on a global basis. We participate in many trade shows as part of our marketing efforts, and we advertise our products in several industry journals as well as on the Internet.

Reaxis is particularly recognized as a leader in the tin chemicals industry, and we are expanding our reach into other chemistries. The markets into which Reaxis sells include surface finishing, oil field drilling/enhancement, polymers, coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, and a number of different specialty chemical applications.

Many of our products are highly specialized and all are marketed business to business.

We have several distributors in select markets that specialize in our specific industry.

We collaborate with TIB Chemicals AG (http://www.tib-chemicals.com) for their product sales in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central and South America. We also represent TIB Chemicals AG in North America.

All our activities are grouped in two business units:

Metal Finishing Chemicals

We produce and trade Tin, Copper and Bismuth Chemicals as well as Specialty Chemicals for plating of metals on plastic, decorative plating, high speed plating etc.

Upon request, we will develop suitable metal salts and procedures for the production of very specialized alloys.

Specialties

We produce and trade Inorganic and Organic Tin and Bismuth compounds, as well as specialized sulfonic acids. These compounds are used, among other applications, as catalysts (Reaxis™).

In addition to providing a variety of standard catalysts to our customers, we also collaborate with customers and partners to identify and develop the optimum catalyst for their specific requirements and even custom-formulate products. We can even test our customers’ formulations in our lab and help them meet their goals or solve their problems.

Our R&D department continuously develops new catalysts.
